SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The UC Riverside Highlanders Women's Tennis team opened their 2020 season on the road at the Aztec Tennis Center against San Diego State University on January 25. It was a rough opener for the Highlanders, as the Aztecs were able to sweep the match 0-7.

Lindsey Gelinas and Lauren Wolfe put up the biggest fight in doubles, ultimately dropping #2 doubles 4-6. Lindsey Gelinas also had the closest singles match in the #3 spot, with a score of 3-6, 4-6. Besides that, the Aztecs held the Highlanders to three or less points a set in both singles and doubles
. 
Head Coach Mark Henry is looking ahead saying, "It was our first match and we struggled to relax and find our best tennis. The top three played pretty well. We will learn from today and be better next time." 

Next match for the Highlanders will be their home opener at the SRC Tennis Courts against Hope International University on Thursday, January 30 at 1:30 PM.
