, Calif.- The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team fell at home to Cal State Fullerton, 68-45, Thursday night at the SRC Arena.

UC Riverside (8-19, 4-9) fell behind early on and was unable to mount a successful comeback. The Highlanders did, however, manage to outscore Cal State Fullerton (15-11, 7-6) 18-5 in the fourth period.

Keilanei Cooper led UCR with an 18-point performance that featured three connections from long distance. Marina Ewodo pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds to go with her six points and two assists.

"Cal State Fullerton is the kind of team that you just can't give anything to, they make you pay for every bad pass, missed defensive assignment or failure to communicate." said Head Coach Seyram Bell.

The Highlanders struggled from the field in the loss to the Titans, as they shot 27.9 percent for the game. In the fourth, UCR had the best showing of the contest connecting on 42 percent (7-17, 3-5 3pt) of their attempts and holding the Titans to 2-15 from the field in the final frame. Although UC Riverside won the fourth, it wasn't enough to overcome the advantage Cal State Fullerton had established in the first three quarters.

Next up for UC Riverside is first-place UC Davis, who the Highlanders got past, 75-70, at home on January 9th in the 2020 Big West Conference opener.Â
