RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Dejah Dade and
Zoey Seput delivered two double-doubles good for 29 digs and 47 assists, and
Deja Bickers led the team with 15 kills on 35 swings (.286), but the Highlanders could not close the match as CSU Bakersfield defeated UCR in five sets Saturday night at SRC Arena.
Up 2-0 in sets and tied 17-17 in the third, UC Riverside (4-12, 0-6 Big West) looked poised to win its first conference match of the season, but a 23-25 third set became the beginning of the end of the Highlanders' hopes as the Roadrunners (10-4, 3-3 Big West) roared back to take the contest.
The Highlanders gave the Roadrunners all they could handle in UCR's search for its first win over CSU Bakersfield since 2012. The all-time series continues to tilt in UC Riverside's favor, 36-29.
The four-match homestand continues at SRC Arena vs. UC Santa Barbara Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. and CSUN Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. before the team heads back on the road Oct. 22 to Long Beach State.
