LAS VEGAS, Calif. – The UCR men's tennis team was blanked by UNLV on Rebel courts 7-0 in the first match of a doubleheader Tuesday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
UNLV won two of three doubles matches to secure a 1-0 lead entering singles and then did not lose a set in singles to complete the sweep.
 
In the second match of the day, the Highlanders fell 5-2 to the Rebels.
 
UCR dropped all three doubles matches to put UNLV in a 1-0 lead. The Rebels then got four straight set wins in singles to clinch the overall victory.
 
Head Coach Mattias Johansson said, "It is always tough to lose matches, but as long as we make progress with each match played, we will continue to grow as a team." He continued, "This is a very young group with a lot of potential. They just need a lot of playing experience and we will get there."
 
Coach Johansson highlighted a few performances, noting, "Nolan McCaig once again played great and certainly has the understanding of how to put himself in a position to win every match. Jayson Blando had a great second match in our 5-2 loss. There's a lot to look forward to with this young group of men."

The next match for Highlanders is April 6, at home against Concordia Irvine at 3:00 PM.
