Box Score RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The UC Riverside men's tennis team started strong with the doubles win, but were unable to keep the momentum going into singles with a 1-4 defeat to UC Davis on Friday afternoon at the SRC Tennis Courts.
It was UCR's first doubles point win since April 6 against Concordia.
"We got the doubles point, so I'm pleased with how we begin to shape up in doubles," head coach Mattias Johansson said.
The Highlanders dropped a doubles match on court one, but Jayson and Michael Blando fought for a 7-6, 7-5 win on court three to tie it up. Bingru Chen and Antreas Djakouris clinched the point with a hard-fought 7-6, 7-2 win on two.
