Highlanders Drop Home Match to Nevada

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside kicked off its spring schedule on Saturday at the SRC Tennis Courts, falling 7-0 to Nevada. 

Niki Shahbazi saw her first collegiate action in the spring season opener and didn't go down easy in both doubles and singles. The freshman from Chula Vista teamed up with Sofia Lazzaroni to push Nevada the furthest in doubles play, falling 6-4 on court three. Shahbazi played on the six line in singles, battling Nevada's number six. 

One of three seniors on this year's squad, Natalie Shamma played deep into the match on the number three line before dropping a hard-fought singles match. 

UC Riverside is back on the court on Saturday, January 22 to face San Diego State at the Aztec Tennis Center on the campus of SDSU.
