RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UC Riverside breezed past Hope International on Saturday morning at the SRC Tennis Courts. 

Three straight-set singles and two-win days from Serina Saltzen and Sydney Tran helped the Highlanders claim the 4-0 win. 

Sofia Lazzaroni and Tran gained early ground in doubles play with a quick 6-2 win before Natalie Shamma and Saltzen claimed UCR's doubles point with an identical score on court two. 

UC Riverside only turned up the heat in singles. Niki Shahbazi picked up her first collegiate singles win in duel competition in a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 win on court five. Tran faced minor push back on court six with a 6-3 win in set one, but settled in to finish out the 6-3, 6-0 win. 

Saltzen closed out HIU on court four with a 6-2, 6-1 win. Mahli Silpachai, Shamma and Lazzaroni were all ahead on courts one, two and three, respectively, before the Highlanders clinched their first win of the season on court four. 

UCR continues its seven-match homestand on Thursday, February 3 against Pacific at the SRC Tennis Courts.
