In a game with six lead changes and three ties, the Pepperdine Waves bested the UC Riverside Highlanders 67-58. The bench contributed significantly to UCR's score line with 24 points.
Both teams battled throughout the contest, with Pepperdine coming out aggressive and winning the first quarter, 25-12.
The Highlanders ignited offensively in the second quarter, going on a seven point run to earn their highest scoring quarter, scoring 28 to the Waves' seven. At halftime the Highlanders were ahead 40-32.
In the back half of the game, the Waves surged ahead while effectively holding back the Highlanders defensively. In the final 20 minutes, UC Riverside scored just 18 points. The final score was 67-58 in favor of Pepperdine.
The Highlanders play next at home on Wednesday, November 23, hosting Cal State LA at 6 PM in the SRC.
