RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside opened the 2022 season Thursday afternoon at Amy S. Harrison Field, falling 7-0 to Boise State.
Moana Pisia represented the Highlanders' first base runner of the new season, working a full count in the second inning before taking ball four. Nadia Witt recorded the first hit of the season in the sixth inning, singling to left field on her first at bat.

Max Ortega led off the bottom of the seventh with a single to left on a 1-0 pitch, followed by back-to-back singles from Haylee Kela and Lauryn Garewal that moved Ortega to third.
