RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside returned to the SRC Arena from a four-game road trip to host UC Irvine on Thursday, staying with the Anteaters for three quarters but falling 60-44.
UCR got off to a fast 6-2 start, and after the Anteaters caught back up on the offensive end, Jordan Webster pushed the Highlanders with back-to-back threes midway through the first quarter. Webster registered her second straight double digit scoring game, pouring in 11 after a 15-point effort at Hawaii on Saturday.
The sophomore also came one rebound shy of her first career double double.
The Highlanders busted open with an 11-2 run that lasted the majority of the second quarter, allowing UC Riverside to turn a 17-16 deficit into a 25-19 lead.
UCR trailed by one at the break, but came out of halftime on a 12-3 run that opened up an eight-point lead. Five different Highlanders scored in the run, led by four from Jada Holland.
UC Riverside returns to action on Saturday, February 12 to take on UC San Diego at the SRC Arena, where UCR Athletics will celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day.
