RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UC Riverside fell 12-2 in a rubber match with Long Beach State on Sunday afternoon at Amy S. Harrison Field.
Chrys Hildebrand went out for her second start of the weekend, going 4.0 innings with six strikeouts.
Haylee Kela worked a four-pitch walk in the first inning, but quickly moved stations after
Marissa Burk doubled to right center on the first pitch of her at-bat as Kela wheeled over to third.
Leah Brito walked to load the bases, but a strikeout ended the frame for UC Riverside.
With the double, Burk now has eight hits in her last five games and has hit safely in nine of her last 10 contests.
UCR put a runner on base in each inning in Sunday's finale, continually competing in each at-bat with two runs in the fifth on a
Max Ortega RBI single.
The Highlanders will hit the road for its next two Big West series, starting with three games at Cal Poly on March 26 and 27.
