PALM DESERT, Calif. - UCR closed out its showing at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on Friday at the Classic Club, placing 15th as a team with Josh Hu finishing in a tie for 17th.

After a rough outing on the front nine in Friday's final round, Hu birdied two par 5s to finish with a 3-over 75 for the day and 73-68-75-214 for the tournament.

Sam He shot followed up a 76 on day one and a 74 Thursday to finish strong with a 1-under 71 on Friday. He birdied three par 5s and a par 4 in the final round.

He and Hu both averaged a 4.67 on par 5s for the tournament. Hu is the highest scoring Highlander at the event since Brandon Tsujimoto and Andrew Spillman each turned in top-15 finishes in 2018.

UCR is back on the links on March 21 and 22 for the UC San Diego Invitational at the La Costa Golf Course in Carlsbad.
