RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside fell 10-5 to San Diego on Wednesday afternoon at Amy S. Harrison Field.
Leah Brito went 2 for 3 with two runs on the day, while Jantzen Owen collected a season-high two hits in a 2-for-4 day that included two RBIs. Owen and Nadia Witt each accounted for two RBIs while Shelbie Caro laid claim to the fifth.
Brito cemented her third multi-hit game of the season in the fifth inning on a single up the middle that loaded the bases.
Taylor Burdette reached on a fielding error in the third inning before stealing her first base of the season, then advanced one more station on a groundout from Haylee Kela. Gigi Araki worked a full count into a walk to load the bases, but a strikeout one batter later ended the inning.
Moana Pisia singled up the middle on a full count to lead off the sixth inning, then Owen slapped her first pitch into a double for her second multi-hit game of the season before Witt, who pinch hit for Burdette, singled Owen and Pisia home.
UC Riverside welcomes Saint Mary's to the Inland Empire for a doubleheader on Friday starting at 12:00 p.m. before Big West play begins next weekend with Long Beach State.
