SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Kate Villegas shot a 3-under 69 in Monday's second round to vault to the top of the leaderboard after 36 holes at the Big West Championships at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. 
 
Villegas holds a two-shot lead after two rounds and UC Riverside as a team is in fourth. 
 
Villegas (74-69-143) birdied six of her eighteen holes on Monday after vaulting five spots up the leaderboard into medalist positioning. The sophomore was at even par at the turn and started the back nine with back-to-back birdies.
 
Tiffany Le (73-79-152) parred six holes on the back nine after a rough front nine and heads into Tuesday's final round tied for ninth. Vanessa Betancourt
