Highlanders in Eighth after 36 Holes, Hirata Vaults up Leaderboard

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - UC Riverside completed round two on Monday at the Coeur D'Alene Resort Invitational with two Highlanders in the top 15 and three in the top 50 heading into Tuesday's final round.

Kate Villegas shot under par for the second consecutive round in Idaho with another four birdies, two of which came on par 5s. Villegas jumped two spots up the leaderboard and is now tied for third after 36 holes.

Tiffany Le stayed put in a tie for 15th thanks to back-to-back-to-back birdies on 16, 17 and 18. Le bogeyed 2, 3 and 5 and shot par the rest of the way.

Mylan Hirata though was perhaps the story of the day for UC Riverside, shaving four strokes off her first round score to jump 20 spots in the leaderboard into a tie for 50th.

UCR will finish up in Idaho on Tuesday with an 8:00 a.m. start time and live results available on Golfstat.
