UCR Women’s Basketball Announces Full 2022-23 Schedule

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UC Riverside announced its complete 2022-23 Women's Basketball schedule today, Thursday, September 22, 2022. Click here for the full schedule and click here for ticket information.Â
Under the direction of Head Coach Nicole Powell, the Highlanders roared through the balance of the 2021-22 season, winning eight of their last nine games and making it to the semi-final round in The Big West Conference tournament before losing to eventual winner, Hawaii. UCR will look to make another statement this year with a grueling Big West slate and a non-conference schedule that features a pair of opponents from last year's postseason, including WNIT quarterfinalist UCLA. Â
"We are really looking forward to the season and matching up against great opponents," Powell said. "We have a challenging non-conference schedule and expect to be tested a great deal. I expect our team to grow a great deal from these experiences and this should prepare us well for conference play."Â
2022-23 Schedule HighlightsÂ
The Highlanders will open the year on November 7 against Pacific on the back end of a home-and-home series that began with a season-opening win in Stockton last year. UC Riverside will then hit the road for a four-game trip with contests at UCLA and Fresno State before heading to Alaska for the ASRC/ConocoPhillips Great Alaska Shootout. Â
UCR will finish the away-heavy non-conference docket with four of its final six away from the SRC Arena, heading into Big West Conference play after visits to Utah and Texas Tech. Â
The Highlanders will have a second crack at a Big 12 opponent in 2022 following the COVID-19 cancelation against TCU in 2021. Additionally, a second date with the Utes comes after last year's last-second matchup in Salt Lake City. Â
The team will begin Big West Conference play on December 29 at CSU Bakersfield before commencing its slate of home contests in the SRC Arena on New Year's Eve against Long Beach State. UCR will also travel to Hawaii and host UC Davis for the first time since 2019-20 after previous matchups were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Â
The Highlanders will close out their 2022-23 regular season campaign at home when they welcome Cal Poly to the SRC Arena for Senior Night on March 4 before heading to Henderson, Nevada for the 2022 Big West Basketball Championships at the Dollar Loan Center. Â
