RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UC Riverside scored win number one in a new era of Highlander women's tennis on Wednesday evening at the SRC Tennis Courts with a 4-0 win over Hope International. 

The Highlanders are now 1-0 for just the second time in program history and first since 2003. 

UCR made it three doubles wins, led by the freshman duo of Brionna Nguyen and Maya Youssef on court one with the 6-3 win. Youssef also scored a 6-2, 6-2 win on court two. Kei Kato (6-0, 6-0) and Sydney Tran (6-4, 6-1) also picked up dominating straight-set wins in the Highlanders' first win of the season. 

UC Riverside is back on the courts on Wednesday, February 1 with a 2:00 p.m. match at Long Beach State.
