LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC Riverside finished its road trip on Saturday afternoon in La Jolla with a 63-50 loss to UC San Diego at LionTree Arena.Â
Anna Blount went for 10 points for the third time in her last four games, ending her afternoon with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting with a steal. Blount has shot 50 percent from the floor now in five Big West contests this season, including both of UCR's meetings with the Tritons.Â
UC Riverside kept it close with a two-point deficit after one quarter, but the upstart offense began to fall through the cracks as UC San Diego jumped out to an 11-point halftime lead.Â
The Highlanders' 10 turnovers tied for the second-lowest total of the season while the bench chipped in in a big way in Saturday's matinee. UC Riverside sported a 21-8 edge in bench points, 10 of the Highlanders' 13 fourth-quarter points.Â
Paige Atchley went for nine points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal in a breakout game for the Idaho transfer. Atchley's nine points were her most since going for 14 against Pepperdine in the Great Alaska Shootout.Â
UCR will remain at home on Thursday, February 2 for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff against CSU Bakersfield on ESPN+.
