
Women’s Golf Opens Play at The Clash at Boulder Creek

BOULDER CREEK, Nev. - UC Riverside completed 18 holes on Sunday at The Clash at Boulder Creek to kick off its fifth and final tournament of the fall season.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vanessa Betancourt shot a 73 (+1) with three birdies and a double birdie on two.Â
- Janna Andaya was +1 on the back nine and even par on the front while parring eight of nine holes on the back. The freshman also carded birdies on two and three to finish with an identical 73 (+1).
- UC Riverside posted seven of its eight birdies on the front nine, where all five Highlanders were in the home stretch after teeing off on holes nine through 11.Â
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
- Betancourt was -3 on the front nine, helping tie Andaya for UCR's lead in the clubhouse after 18 holes. Andaya, meanwhile, shot par or better on 16 of 19 holes.Â
- The duo are both tied for 16th heading into Monday's second round.Â
- Riley Shin parred seven of nine holes on the back nine.Â
