UCR Falls to Middle Tennessee in Second Day of Lynn Russell Miller Classic

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside suffered defeat for the first time in 2023 on Friday afternoon at Amy S. Harrison Field, falling 7-2 to Middle Tennessee State to cap off day two of the annual Lynn Russell Miller Classic.
Marissa Burk went 2 for 2 on day two with a run and a walk. Burk roped an RBI single down the left field line before coming home on a first-pitch triple from Kat Montuya.
Grace Pieson and Brooke Perez made their Highlander debuts in the circle, combining for 6.0 innings of relief with Perez collecting a pair of strikeouts.
UC Riverside will continue opening weekend with a 2:00 p.m. first pitch against Montana from Amy S. Harrison Field. Tickets for that and all Highlander home softball games are available at highlanderstickets.universitytickets.com.
