RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside made things interesting late, but fell 56-45 to UC Irvine on Saturday evening at the SRC Arena.
UC Riverside scored 10 of its 22 first-half points off the bench, led by six from Zoe Tillery on a pair of threes. Tillery, who had the hot hand just a week ago with a career-high 17 points, went for six against the Anteaters with a couple of threes..
Jordan Webster accounted for the other half of UCR's major first half offensive production. Webster turned a 15-5 deficit into 15-11 with her second three of the ball game before ultimately finishing her evening with 14 points, six rebounds, an assist, two blocks and a steal. Webster was four rebounds shy of her first double double of the season.
UCR outscored UC Irvine 9-0 in points off turnovers in the second half, as the Highlanders forced 19 Anteater turnovers.
Anna Blount returned to double-digit scoring with her fifth in her last eight games, going for 10 points while adding five rebounds, a block and a steal. Blount took a double-digit deficit down to single digits with a coast-to-coast easy bucket after RyAnne Walters came up with the steal under UCI's basket.
