Two Highlanders Earn Top-Five Finishes in Utah

ST. GEORGE, Utah - UC Riverside jumped two spots up the leaderboard on the final day of the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational, as Tiffany Le (69-77-72-218) and Vanessa Betancourt (74-73-72-219) earned top-five finishes in Utah.Â
All five Highlanders in the lineup lowered their scores from Friday's day two.Â
Le and Betancourt both shot even par on Saturday to close out their performances at the Sunbrook Golf Course, finishing tied for third and fifth, respectively. Le put in a consistent third round with 14 pars and two birdies, while Betancourt's four birdies on the back nine helped her move three spots up the leaderboard.Â
Nicole Le (76-80-76-232) rebounded from her 80 on day two to return to a sub-80 score on day three, and Mylan Hirata (81-78-74-233) shot her second straight round in the 70s after starting the tournament off with a rocky 81 to make a 17-spot jump into a tie for 50th.
Rounding out the lineup was freshman Maleyna Gregorio, who shot her lowest round of the tournament at 4-over 76 thanks to birdies on three and 13.
UC Riverside is back in action at the Fresno State Classic, to be held March 27 and 28 at the San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno.Â
