RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The University of California, Riverside Highlanders dropped a road contest to the California Baptist University Lancers, 6-1, on Tuesday, April 18.
The Lancers wasted no time getting things started, scoring a single run in the first inning and two in the second for an early 3-0 lead.
In the top of the third, Jacob Shanks hoped to start a comeback, grounding out to score Mason Grace, on base from a leadoff walk to start the inning. The run cut the Lancers' lead to 3-1.
In the bottom of the third, a two-RBI double from the Lancers extended their lead 5-1. California Baptist homered in the bottom of the fourth for their sixth and final run for a score of 6-1 in favor of the Lancers to finish the game.
The Highlanders are on the road this weekend, playing UC Davis next at 2:30 PM on Friday, April 21.
