Highlanders Bow out of Big West Tennis Championship

SAN DIEGO - UC Riverside's women's tennis season came to an end on Wednesday afternoon at the Barnes Tennis Center, as the No. 9 Highlanders dropped a 4-1 decision to eighth-seeded UC Irvine.Â
UCR dropped the doubles point, but Maya Youssef won her third singles match of the year and first since April 7 with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win on four to tie up singles.Â
Sofia Lazzaroni and Brionna Nguyen went unfinished on courts two and three, respectively. Nguyen was up 5-2 in set two and looking to force a third set, while Lazzaroni was in another tight set with her UCI opponent.Â
