FULLERTON, Calif. - UC Riverside concluded the 2023 Big West Championship at Cal State Fullerton's Titan Track Complex on Saturday with a smattering of All-Big West honors and three Big West titles. 

As a team, UCR finished seventh on the men's side with 49 points - six behind UC Irvine - and sixth on the women's side with 83 points, just two behind UC Santa Barbara. 

Linda Perez won the 1500 title by almost three seconds, while UCR took home more all-conference nods for Saniyah Starks (400m), Andrew Jackson (800m) and Raykiyat Olujoku (200m). Riley Jones entered the meet seeded 23rd out of 25 before turning in a 12th-place finish. 

Lance Denhalter finished first among freshman in the men's 1500m and Tyler Kaan finished ninth after being seeded 15th. 

Jackson dialed it in for the last 110 meters and catapulted from sixth to third for his first all-conference honor. The junior's 1:50.02 is a new lifetime best and now second on UCR's all-time list. Olukoju's 200m time was identical to second place, coming down to a thousandth of a second. The freshman finished third with six team points while also placing seventh in the 100m. 

Starks' 55.07 in the 400m was good for eight team points. She was also the first leg of the 4x400 relay team that captured the Big West title with a 3:40.87. 

Calvin Black narrowly missed out on all-conference honors in the triple jump, but he and Kyan Thomas combined for eight team points. Martin Billings II also just missed out on all-conference in the 110mH, but ran an all conditions best of 14.13 for fourth overall and five team points. 

Shiloh Corrales-Nelson closed out the Championship with UCR's third first-place finish of the weekend, taking first in the shot put with a 15.94m.
