MOSCOW, Idaho - UC Riverside dropped the tournament finale at the Idaho Volleyball Classic on Sunday afternoon, falling 3-0 to the host Vandals at Memorial Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Delaney Tate led UCR with a match-high six kills in the first set as the Highlanders played closely behind Idaho in a 25-17 set defeat. 
• Tate recorded seven more kills in set two, where UCR collected two of its four service aces. 
• Mylei Vargas-Deason recorded all 10 of her kills in set three, as UC Riverside gained a closer edge on Idaho despite a 25-20 set three defeat. UC Riverside was neck-and-neck with Idaho for the first half of set three, taking a 16-15 lead on Vargas-Deason's eighth kill. 
• Vargas-Deason was an integral part of the Highlanders hitting .297 in set three, as UC Riverside recorded 15 kills on 37 swings in the final frame. 

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS

• Tate and Vargas-Deason combined for 26 of the Highlanders' 38 kills. 
• Makena Tong recorded a double double with 29 assists and 14 digs to go along with a block assist. She and Tylee Fuller combined for 25 of the Highlanders' 42 digs in the finale. 
• Fuller also recorded three of UC Riverside's four service aces on the day.
