Highlanders Draw With Bulldogs 1-1

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The UC Riverside Highlanders hosted the Fresno State Bulldogs in a head to head bout that resulted in a 1-1 draw at home at the UCR Soccer Stadium. Spenser Gonzales found the net for the Highlanders in the 30th minute of the first half, off of an assist from Braelynn Llamoca. FSU evened the score in the 39th minute. With both teams entering the second half locked at 1-1, the final 45 minutes was a back and forth before time ran out and the draw was final.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Gonzales scored her first goal of the season and her second in Highlander Blue and Gold. Her first came in the final game of the 2022 season against CSUN.
  • Cassia Souza faced seven shots making four saves and letting up just one goal against the Bulldogs.
  • In addition to her assist, Llamoca had one of the Highlanders' two shots on goal this evening.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS

  • Lavinia Vaipulu led the Highlanders in attempts, with two of the Highlanders five shots to her credit.
