RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside hosted its home opener at the SRC Arena on Friday, falling 3-0 to Oregon State in the Riverside Classic. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Delaney Tate's four kills paced UCR in set one, as the Highlanders hit .132 with 11 assists from Beatriz Silva. 
• Mylei Vargas-Deason recorded both of her aces in set two, as UCR dropped a close 25-22 second set. 
• Anya Green and Nikki Hughes recorded their block assists in set three on an Oregon State attack error that gave the Highlanders a brief 11-7 lead.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS

• Tate, Anya Green and Mylei Vargas-Deason led UCR with six kills apiece. Green hit .545 for the match with six kills on 11 swings. 
• Jessica Dean made her second appearance of the year and came five digs shy of tying a career high with 17 in the losing effort to the Beavers. 
• UCR and Oregon State went back and forth in set three with five ties and three lead changes.
