Win Streak Reaches Five in Win at CSUN

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - UC Riverside stretched its win streak to five on Saturday afternoon with a 56-47 win over CSUN at Premier America Credit Union Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Jordan Webster scored six of UCR's first eight points, one game removed from surpassing 1,000 for her career. The Highlanders ended the first quarter on a 9-2 run while rendering CSUN scoreless for the final 2:45. 
  • India Aikins returned to the rotation for UC Riverside, logging three minutes on Saturday afternoon. 
  • Webster later hit a driving runner as time expired to bring the Highlanders to within a point at the halftime interval. The senior scored UCR's final four points of the second and broke the Highlanders out of a six-minute dry spell without a field goal. 
  • UCR made its second-quarter living mainly from the free throw line with an 8-for-9 clip. 
  • Both teams shot 25% in the second quarter and 41.7% in the third while the Highlanders outscored CSUN 18-12 in the third. 
  • UCR imposed its will in bench points with a 14-2 advantage, led by seven from Zoe Tillery on a 3-for-5 clip. Tillery added a season-high four steals as well.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS

  • Webster notched her 27th double digit scoring performance in her last 28 games, pouring in 27 points against the Matadors. 
  • RyAnne Walters scored eight of her season-high 11 points in the second half. 
  • UC Riverside picked up its third win of the season and second straight when trailing at halftime. 
  • Four Highlanders recorded at least four rebounds on the day, paced by Matehya Bryant's eight.
