DAVIS, Calif. - UC Riverside nearly completed a 24-point comeback on Thursday night, but fell 63-59 to UC Davis at the University Credit Union Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

UC Riverside went 3 of 5 from the floor from the opening tip for a narrow 6-4 lead behind a pair of buckets from Matehya Bryant. UC Davis tied things up before RyAnne Walters pulled the Highlanders back in front with a fast-break three on the ensuing possession.
India Aikins made her season debut in Davis and checked in at 4:52 of the first quarter, logging seven minutes for the night.
UCR was 3 of 6 from the floor to start the second half before going on a long cold spell. Makayla Jackson's three at 6:54 of the third quarter started the comeback attempt, as the Stanislaus State transfer made her second consecutive after picking up her second steal of the night.
UCR went on a 15-1 run down the stretch of the fourth quarter while holding the Aggies scoreless from the field for 7 of 9 attempts.
The Highlanders ultimately ended the game on a 23-5 run.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS

UC Riverside held the Aggies without a field goal for the final 7:56 of the contest, back to when UC Davis held a 24-point lead at 58-34.
Six of UC Riverside's 13 steals came in the fourth quarter, four of which led to Highlander buckets.
Jackson poured in a season-high 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting, showing her range as well with four makes from beyond the arc in addition to six rebounds and two assists and three steals.
