SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - UC Riverside completed the second leg of its Central Coast road trip on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 loss to Cal Poly at Mott Athletics Center.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• UC Riverside jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in set one with three kills from three different Highlanders and an ace from Trinity Neal.  
• UCR went toe to toe close with the Mustangs in set two, staying within two points for the majority of a set that saw 10 ties and four lead changes.  
• The Highlanders sported a .419 kill percentage in the second frame and surged ahead for an 11-10 lead with kills from Carissa Wiles, Sydnee Rower and Kailyn Jager. UCR kept chopping at each instance of adversity, tying the set at 15 on a McKinley Chase ace and 17 on a kill from Brianna Bowyer.  

NOTABLES 

• Carissa Wiles made her first start since September 6 at Southern Utah, notching 11 kills with a .250 hitting percentage. Layla Hooks also made her first start since the SUU match with two kills on five swings.
• Neal recorded her first assist, first ace and a season-high five digs in her ninth appearance of the season and third of Big West play.
