FRESNO, Calif. - The Highlanders traveled to Central California tonight and took on Fresno State. Coming off their home opening win over Whittier College last week, the Highlanders looked for win number two on the young season. Tonight's game marked the 16th all time meeting between the two schools with UCR winning two of the last three.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Highlanders trailed the Bulldogs by three (12-9) at the end of the first quarter. Only three Highlanders scored as Zoe Tillery, Shelley Duchemin and Hannah Wickstrom all chipped in with three points each.
The Highlanders played the Bulldogs even in the second quarter, with each team scoring eleven points. At the end of the first half Duchemin led the way with 12 for UCR on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor. UCR shot 43% from three going 4-7 from beyond the arc.
Heading into the third quarter UCR trailed by three, but Fresno State had three runs of five points or more to take an eight point lead into the fourth. Seneca Hackley came alive in the third, scoring five points on 2-of-3 shooting.
Fresno State slowly took control of the game in the fourth quarter, pushing its lead to 12. UCR would trade baskets the last five minutes of the game and could not get back into it. The Bulldogs topped the Highlanders, 63-53.

NOTABLES

Duchemin led the way in scoring for UCR posting 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting. She was the only Highlander in double figures. Tillery and Hackley both chipped in with nine.
Tillery and Esther Matarranz led UCR in total minutes with 34 and 30 respectively.
UCR's bench outscored Fresno State's bench 24-6.
