NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - UC Riverside concluded the road portion of its 2024 schedule on Saturday afternoon at Premier Credit Union Arena with a 3-2 defeat at CSUN.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Kailyn Jager led the squad in the opening frame with four kills on nine swings, as UCR fought off four set points before falling, 25-22. Two of those denied set points came from a solo block and block assist from Layla Hooks.  
• Late momentum from set one carried over to set two, where the Highlanders outhit CSUN .243 to .125 to level the match at one set apiece. Trinity Sheridan collected three of UCR's final four kills in set two.  
• UC Riverside pushed CSUN to the brink after capturing a wild 30-28 third set, rallying for the win after being down by as many as four.  
• Teams alternated points five times late in the set until a kill from Hooks and an ace from Jessica Dean put UCR up 2-1 in the match.  
• UC Riverside took a brief lead in set four before pulling level at seven apiece in a decisive fifth set.  

NOTABLES 

• UCR gained the edge late in a pivotal second set with three consecutive kills by Jager, making it 19-18 to the Highlanders.  
• Jager recorded her third double double of the season with 14 kills and 11 digs, all three of which have come in the last six matches. Sheridan also recorded a double double with 14 kills and 12 digs, additionally notching five block assists and an assist. 
• Carissa Wiles tied a career high on Saturday with 14 kills, hitting .250 for the match.
