RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UC Riverside opened its season with a 91-76 loss to Oregon at the Matthew Knight Arena on November 4.

- A critical three pointer hit by Barrington Hargress tied the game 20-20 midway through the first half.
- Oregon answered with a series of scoring runs, ending the half ahead 51-36.
- Luke Turner's three-pointer and Niyi Olabode layup, cut Oregon's lead to 69-62 with 11 minutes left to play in the second half.
- UC Riverside continued to battle, but Oregon's consistent scoring held off the Highlanders' efforts, securing a final score of 91-76.
- Hargress led UC Riverside with 20 points, including four three-pointers, followed by Smith with 14 points and five rebounds.
- Moses added 13 points and dished out seven assists, while Nate Pickens contributed 11 points, showcasing accurate three-point shooting as he went 3-4 from beyond the arch.
- With his 20-point performance, the returning Big West Freshman of the Year, Hargress, recorded his 10th straight double-digit scoring game.
- UC Riverside is now 2-5 all-time against Oregon following a pair of hotly-contested 71-65 losses in Eugene under coach Mike Magpayo.
- The Highlanders are in Provo, Utah Friday, November 8th as they take on BYU for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
