Women’s Tennis Finishes Road Trip with Sweep of Ottawa

PHOENIX, Ariz. - UC Riverside women's tennis's road trip to the Grand Canyon State ended on a high note on Tuesday at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex with a 7-0 win over Ottawa.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • UCR picked up a pair of 6-2 doubles wins in the morning while Kamya Nair and Brionna Nguyen won by default at No. 3 doubles.  
  • Sydney Tran was dominant at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win. Nair was equally as dominant at No. 4 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.  
  • Crystal Kim faced mild adversity after going down one set to none, but answered the call with a 6-1 win in set two before sealing the deal at No. 3 with a 10-3 win in set three.  

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Nguyen collected her second straight singles win on Tuesday, this one coming in straight sets.  
  • Four of five Highlanders in singles play won their matches in straight sets (Niki Shahbazi did not compete at No. 6 singles).  

UP NEXT 

  • UC Riversideis returns to the court on Monday, February 19 to host Azusa Pacific at 2:00 p.m. at the SRC Tennis Courts.
