Women’s Tennis Falls to New Mexico

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside women's tennis dropped a 4-0 decision to New Mexico on Friday morning at the SRC Tennis Courts. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Crystal Kim and Maya Youssef were unfinished at doubles No. 2 and in the middle of a heated battle with a 3-4 score.  
  • Kim engaged in another close bout at singles No. 3, forcing a tie break in set one before falling 9-11. The freshman was forced to retire after being down 0-2 in set two.  
  • Niki Shahbazi forced a third set at No. 6 with a 6-3 win in set two.  

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Brionna Nguyen was on the verge of her second consecutive singles win before going unfinished, holding a 6-2, 5-4 advantage at No. 1. 

UP NEXT 

  • UCR returns to action on Sunday, February 25 to host Sacramento State. First serve is set for 10:00 a.m. from the SRC Tennis Courts.
