LA JOLLA, Calif. - UC Riverside dropped game two to the UCSD Tritons , 8-4, at Thursday's afternoon game at Triton Ballpark. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Andrew Rivas started the Highlanders off in the third inning with a double down the right field line to put himself into scoring position. 
• Dominic Martinez singled to center field to score Rivas, putting the Highlanders up with an early 1-0 lead.
• Cole Koniarsky got his first of two hits with an RBI double that sent Martinez across home plate for UCR's second run. 
• Jayden Lopez singled next, bringing Koniarsky into home and lifting the Highlanders to a 3-0 lead.  
• In the first four innings, Matthew Flores scattered just three hits and let up no runs. 
• Koniarsky extended the Highlanders lead to 4-0 after he made it home in the fifth inning, off of Chamizo's RBI ground out to shortstop.
• In the bottom of the fifth, the Tritons broke onto the scoreboard with four runs and tied the game up, 4-4.
• In the sixth inning, UCSD took the lead 8-4, scoring four runs before the Highlanders could get out of the inning. 

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

• Koniarsky had 2 hits on 3 at bats, with an RBI on his double and a stolen base. 
• Andrew Rivas hit his second double in as many games.
• James Appleford threw the last two innings in relief for the Highlanders, stifling the Tritons offense, letting up no runs on just one hit and striking out one.
