RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside split a pair of matches on Tuesday at the SRC Tennis Courts with a 4-2 win over UTRGV and a 4-1 loss to Weber State. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• UCR dropped the doubles point to UTRGV, but came alive in singles play wins at Nos. 1, 2, 5 and 6. 
• Maya Youssef (6-1, 6-3), Niki Shahbazi (6-4, 7-6) and Sydney Tran (6-3, 6-0) all collected straight-set wins against the Vaqueros.  
• Brionna Nguyen clinched UCR's win over UTRGV in the morning wiht a 7-6, 2-6, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles.  
• Tran and Shahbazi were unfinished at No. 2 against Weber State. 
• Kai Kato grabbed a straight-set 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles against the Wildcats. 
• Shahbazi went unfinished at No. 5 singles against the Wildcats, but not before jumping to a one-set lead and threatening to sweep her opponent with a 5-7 loss in set two.  

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

• UC Riverside has now won two of its last three matches following the morning session win over UTRGV.  
• Kato's and Youssef's wins over Weber State and UTRGV, respectively, were each therir third singles wins of the year and second in straight sets.  
• Tran posted her third straight-set singles win of the season with her victory against UTRGV.
