UC Riverside Bows Out of Big West Championship

SAN DIEGO - UC Riverside (4-20, 0-8 Big West) dropped Wednesday's Big West Championship opening round matchup, 4-0, to UC Irvine at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Niki Shahbazi and Sydney Tran were unfinished at No. 3 when the match was declared unfinished. 
  • Brionna Nguyen rebounded from a first-set loss at No. 1 to steal a 6-5 win in set two before the match was unfinished with Nguyen leading 2-0.  
  • Tran also overcame a set one defeat, surging back for a hard-fought 7-5 win in set two. 

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Tran has now evened her singles match at one in back-to-back three set bouts.
