RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside (12-27, 3-15 Big West) took a sizeable lead early in Tuesday's midweek matchup with UNLV, but ultimately fell 13-7 at the Riverside Sports Complex.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• UCR and UNLV traded runs in each half of the first inning, ending with Cole Koniarsky's game-tying solo shot to left center.  
• The Highlanders busted out the bats once more in the bottom of the second, this time plating five runs on four hits. UCR plated its first two runs with one out before Zachary Chamizo roped a two-out, two run RBI double down the right field line. 
• Rudy Rodriguez IV pulled UC Riverside out of an offensive slump with a leadoff home run in the eighth to cut the deficit to two at 10-8.  
• Koniarsky and Chamizo combined to go 5 for 9 on the day with a pair of runs and four RBIs between them.  

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

• UC Riverside put up its second largest first inning of the season on Tuesday and largest since dumping seven runs on CBU in the opening frame back on February 25. 
• UCR also recorded its second multi-home run game of the season on Tuesday - both have come in non-conference home games.
