RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside (15-32, 5-20 Big West) dug into its final home series of the 2024 series on Friday night at the Riverside Sports Complex with an 11-4 defeat to UC Davis.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• UC Riverside recorded its first hit of the evening on a second inning double down the right field line off the bat of Sean Blandino.  
• The Highlanders erased the shutout in the fourth inning after Anthony Mata doubled to left to send in Jayden Lopez. Lopez put his wheels on display following his infield single to race home for UCR's first run of the night.  
• UCR put a run on the board for the second straight inning on a sacrifice fly from Zachary Chamizo.  
• UC Riverside flashed a two spot on the scoreboard in the sixth inning, continuing its offense with a two-run home run from Lopez. Lopez delivered the long ball after Cole Koniarsky led off the frame with an opposite field single to right.  

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

• Lopez went 2 for 3 on the night with two runs and two RBIs, now hitting safely in six of his last seven games.  
• Mata and Nick Poss also picked up multi-hit performances for the evening.  
• Kurt Marton went 6.1 innings of relief on the mound with five strikeouts.
