EL PASO, Tex. - UC Riverside women's soccer earned their first win of the 2024 season in a hard fought battle against the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Miners at University Field Sunday afternoon in the Lone Star State.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• UC Riverside scored the winning goal of the game in the first five minutes of play. Mimi Dominguez found the net for the Highlanders shortly after a free kick from a foul drawn by Braelynn Llamoca. The solo shot went into the lower right corner of the goal past the UTEP keeper.
• UTEP had a small advantage in total shots (10-9) and corner kicks (6-2), but the Highlanders made more shots on goal (4-1).

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

• Allee Grashoff saved the one UTEP shot that was on-target, and a stalwart Highlander back line drove nine Miner shots off-target for their first shut out of the season.

• UC Riverside returns to the Inland Empire to host Boise State on Thursday, August 29th. Kick off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
