RIVERSIDE, Calif. (September 14, 2024) - UC Riverside (2-7, 0-0 Big West) opened the 2024 home schedule on Saturday afternoon at the SRC Arena with the final match of the Riverside Classic, falling 3-0 to Nevada.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Carissa Wiles and Kailyn Jager each hit .333 in a close set one defeat despite UCR going on a 6-1 run after trailing 17-11 and an 8-3 run to tie the set at 19.  
• UCR teetered back and forth with its opponent out of the gate for the second straight day, seeing 15 ties and four lead changes in set one.  
• Trinity Sheridan hit .500 in set two with seven kills on 12 attempts while Jager maintained her consistency with a .500 clip of her own in the frame.  
• Sydnee Rowe recorded five of her six kills in set three, going 5 for 5 in the final frame.  

NOTABLES 

• UCR hit .269 in set two for its highest percentage of the match.

• UC Riverside is headed to New Orleans next for its final tournament tune-up before Big West play starts, competing in the Pelican Invitational against New Orleans, Tulane, Louisiana Tech and Arkansas Pine Bluff from September 19th through the 21st.
