Highlanders Drop Battle to Gaels, 1-0
RIVERSIDE, Calif. -Â UC Riverside (2-7-0, 0-0-0) battled but fell to the Saint Mary's College (SMC) Gaels (3-4-1, 0-0-0) on Friday night at the UCR Soccer Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- The Gaels found the net first in the 36', breaking through Highlander defense that held back seven attempts before letting one in.Â
- The Highlanders had an opportunity to equalize off a penalty kick in the 53', but couldn't convert.
NOTABLESÂ
- Freshman Christina Sidoti recorded her first collegiate start, tending goal for the Highlanders for 90 minutes. She faced 15 shots with 6 on target, making 5 saves.
- Mimi Dominguez, Sanaa Guyness, Julianna Hernandez and Audrey Stewart each made an attempt on target, pushing hard for the Highlanders to break onto the scoreboard.
