RIVERSIDE, Calif.- The Highlanders were back at it on Tuesday as they hosted San Jose State at the SRC Tennis Courts. UC Riverside looked to bounce back from a pair of losses to Nebraska last week. For the Spartans this was their first match of the year. This was the third time these two teams met, with San Jose State winning last year, 6-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Spartans took the first point of the match, winning doubles, 2-0. In double match that went unfinished (4-4), Sam Condevillamar made her Highlanders debut partnering up with Niki Shahbazi. 
• In singles play, three of the matches went to a third set with Shahbazi winning, 7-6, 2-6, 10-8 and Ramey Yu winning, 6-7, 6-4, 10-8. For Yu it was her first collegiate win.
• One of the best matches of the day, Kei Kato dropped the first set in her singles match 3-6. She then came back and won a close second set 7-6. The third was action packed, but ultimately went to the Spartans, 11-9.
