RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UC Riverside (0-16-2, 0-9-1 Big West) finished off the 2025 season on Thursday night at the UCR Soccer Stadium with a 1-0 defeat to UC Davis (3-12-4, 1-8-1 Big West).
UCR won its first corner in the ninth minute, when Finley Aghassi sailed it over everyone before the Highlanders regrouped offensively on a throw-in.
Sarah Mahfoud tried her luck from the midfield in the 15th minute, and Mia DiLeo skied one from inside six a minute later. The Highlanders didn't concede a shot until the 32nd minute, when UC Davis was forced to let one go from well outside the 18.
UCR outshot the Aggies 5-2 in the first half while KaMia Elliott needed to make just one save in her second straight start.
DiLeo picked up a loose ball in the midfield in the 51st minute and streaked forward to later win the Highlanders' third corner of the night. The Aggie back line cleared the danger to preserve the 0-0 scoreline. Elliott watched an Aggie attempt fly over the crossbar in the 55th minute and Daisy Miller positioned herself in front of goal in the 56th, but lost her pursuit of the ball to Davis' keeper.
Elliott deflected a shot out of harm's way in the 61st, and Selena Hernandez cleared the remaining damage. UCR turned a counterattack the other way into consecutive corners before Sanaa Guyness struck the crossbar in the 64th from long range. UC Davis broke the deadlock in the 67th minute on a chip from close range.
The sophomore goalkeeper made another one-handed save in the 74th, and UCR went up a player in the 87th on a second yellow with a prime scoring chance that failed to manifest.
UC Riverside has completed its 2025 season.
