PALM DESERT, Calif. — The UC Riverside Highlanders opened play at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate with a team score of 291 (+3), placing them in a tie for 11th place at the Classic Club in Palm Desert.Â

- Hartej Grewal and Liam Hartling led the way for UC Riverside, each carding an even-par 72, placing them in a tie for 36th place. Both players put together steady rounds, avoiding major mistakes while keeping themselves in contention heading into the second round.
- Von Wasson followed closely behind with a 73 (+1), placing him in a tie for 46th place. Wasson played a consistent round, limiting bogeys but unable to convert key birdie opportunities.
