HENDERSON, Nev. – The UC Riverside Highlanders postseason run came to an end in the Big West Championship quarterfinals on Thursday, as the Highlanders fell to UC Davis, 61-50, at Lee's Family Forum.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UC Riverside kept pace with UC Davis in the first quarter, with both teams locked at 14-14 after the opening 10 minutes. The Aggies built a six-point lead at halftime, capitalizing on a 13-7 second quarter in which UCR shot just 21.4% from the field.
- The Highlanders made a strong push in the third quarter, outscoring UC Davis 18-17 behind key buckets from Hannah Wickstrom and Makayla Rose. Wickstrom led UCR with 13 points off the bench, while Rose added 12 points, including a team-high five free throws.
- Trailing by just four entering the final period, UC Riverside struggled to keep UC Davis in check, as the Aggies shot 58.3% in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win. The Highlanders were held to 32.1% shooting overall and just 2-of-10 from three-point range.
