RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside hosted its first of two home meets on a sunny Saturday afternoon at the UCR Track Stadium with the UC Riverside Spring Classic. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Mateo Garcia (47.05m/154'4") took the win in the men's hammer throw in the second event of the day while Deven Martin (43.56m/142'11") took second. 
• Noah Murasmith notched a convincing win in the men's 3000 steeplechase, clocking in at 9:58.15.  
• UC Riverside took four of the top six spots in the women's 1500 with Joy Weber (4:46.31) securing the victory. On the men's side, Ashraf Abdelmagid recorded a 3:48.60 for ninth all-time in program history and a spot in the Big West Championships. 
• Maxwell Jefferson set the No. 3 all-time mark in the men's 110 hurdles for the win in 14.33. 
• UCR's jumping squad dominated the top 10 list on Saturday. Chelsea Aninyei recorded all-time top three marks and new collegiate bests in the high jump (1.70m/5'7") and triple jump (12.85m/42'2").  
• Melanie Ceballos meanwhile notched top 10 marks in the long jump (5.94m/19-6.00) and triple jump (12.08m/39-07.75).  
• Kyan Thomas is now fourth all-time in the triple jump after recording a 15.40m/50-06.25. Thomas also recorded a top 10 mark in the long jump with an event-winning 7.29m/23'11".  
• Olivia McIntosh-Adams tied for fifth all-time with an 11.86 in the women's 100.  
• Juliana Base improved on her No. 2 all-time mark in the javelin with a 44.67m/146'6" for the event win and a Big West qualifier. Saniyah Starks, Elena Mack, Malik Bolton and Joshua Ezieme also all set Big West qualifiers, but in the 400. 

NOTABLES 

• UC Riverside collected 10 top 10 marks, 20 new or improved Big West qualifiers and 19 event wins in total on Saturday. 
• The Highlanders swept the 3000 steeplechase, 1500, 400 and 4x400 relay. 
• Weber beat her collegiate best by 12 seconds to claim victory in the 1500. Alexis Corvese (4:48.65) also set a collegiate best with her second-place finish. 
• McIntosh-Adams recorded a pair of event wins on the day, finishing first in the 100 (11.86) and 200 (24.76).
