RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The UC Riverside Highlanders made a late push in the seventh inning but ultimately fell 6-2 to Big West leader Cal State Fullerton on Sunday afternoon at Amy S. Harrison Field.
The Highlanders matched the Titans in the hit column for much of the game but couldn't overcome a three-run seventh inning by Fullerton.
After the Titans built a 6-0 lead, UC Riverside rallied in its final at-bat.
Eta Lauti and
Kamryn Davis delivered back-to-back singles to start the inning, and
Rebeca Cabezas followed with an RBI single to center to bring in Lauti.
Moments later,
Trendee Kahunahana added an RBI single to left, scoring Davis to cut into the deficit.
Cabezas finished 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Davis went 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Kahunahana added a hit and an RBI. Lauti, Alday, Palazuelos, and Davis also collected hits as UC Riverside posted eight hits overall.
